What it is

Merchant cash advance, explained.

A merchant cash advance gives you a lump sum now in return for a share of your future card sales. Repayments are taken automatically as a set percentage of your card takings until the agreed total is repaid.

The cost is a factor rate, a fixed multiple of the advance agreed at the start. A factor rate of 1.2 on £10,000 means £12,000 repaid in total. Factor rates on our panel range from 1.15 to 1.60.

Good to know

Merchant cash advance, answered.

How is a merchant cash advance repaid?

Through your card takings. An agreed percentage of each card sale goes to the lender until the total is repaid, so repayments rise and fall with your sales.

What is a factor rate?

It is the total you repay as a multiple of the advance, agreed at the start. Factor rates on our panel range from 1.15 to 1.60, depending on the lender and your business.

How much can I get?

Advances are sized on your average monthly card takings. Across our panel they run from £5,000 to £500,000.

How long does it take to repay?

There is no fixed monthly payment. Lenders on our panel usually expect the advance to be repaid within 12 months, sooner if your takings are strong.

Do I need a good credit score?

Lenders look mainly at your card takings and trading history, so a merchant cash advance can suit businesses with a less than perfect credit history. Each lender sets its own criteria.

Is Kyma the lender?

No. Kyma Business Finance is a credit broker, not a lender. We source options from lenders across the whole of the market and take your application to the lender you choose.
